Poverty forced us to sell our 2-day-old baby – Nigerian Parents confess

A 35-year-old man identified as Nkemakolam Ugorji, and his wife, Happiness, have said economic hardship made them sell their two-day-old baby girl in Isiala Ngwa, Abia State, according to Punchng.

Ugorji and Happiness said they had been married for 7 years and already had 4 children, adding that they could not care for the 5th baby and therefore decided to give her away to foster parents. Happiness said, “My husband and I decided to sell our baby because of hardship. We have four children and my husband is not working.

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity says there is no single town in the country that is under the control of the Boko Haram terrorist group.  

Adesina spoke this morning during his appearance on a special programme on Channels Television. He also believes President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has won the war against the insurgency to a notable extent, except for the ‘strike and vanish’ activities of the insurgents.

The Oba arrived at the palace in Ile-Ife at 1:15pm with his chiefs and some dignitaries from the ancient city of Benin. Prominent traditional rulers and notable indigenes of Ife, who joined the Ooni to receive the Benin monarch are the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Oyedotun, traditional rulers from Ile Ife and Dr. John Odeyemi.

Cultural troupes from Benin, entertainers and drummer from Ile-Ife started drumming, singing and dancing as early as 10:am inside the hall where Oba Ewuare was received.

Malawi’s former female president, Joyce Banda returns after Four-year exile

Malawi’s former president, Joyce Banda returned home today after four years of self-imposed exile, despite facing the threat of arrest over corruption allegations.  

Banda, 68, fled the country in 2014 when she lost power after being embroiled in the so-called Cashgate scandal, in which government officials syphoned off millions of dollars of public money.  Banda; only the second woman to lead a country in Africa arrived at Blantyre’s airport on a flight from Johannesburg around midday on Saturday, where she was greeted by hundreds of supporters of her People’s Party, said an AFP journalist at the scene.  “Mother is here, the lights should come back”, the crowd chanted.

The 45-year-old actor was accompanied by his daughter Isan, 16, and fiancée Sabrina Dhowre, 29 and the trio all looked stylish as they graced the event.

Idris shares Isan with his first wife Hanne Norgaard, who he divorced in 2003 after four years of marriage. He is also father to four-year-old son Winston from his relationship with Naiyana Garth, who he split from in 2016

Lady narrates her experience with a male friend who tried to sexually assault her after acting nice initially

This lady's story is a familiar one. She came into town late and needed a place to stay. A friend named Seyi invited her over and she refused but he acted concerned and insisted she spend the night at his place rather than at the airport. She agreed. She got to his place and settled in without drama.

Her nightmare however began when he made sexual advances in the middle of the night. When she declined, he asked her to leave immediately. Thankfully, she survived the ordeal unharmed. Read her story below.

Fellow women advised her to 'save her marriage' rather than confront the man while one sensless woman asked her to beat her sister as she doesn't feel her husband forced her to bed and ''body de sweet her like this.''

Ceec addresses claims that she and Ebuka were friends before Big Brother Naija, says they only met at an event

Diego Maradona sacked at UAE’s Fujairah SC after failing to secure automatic promotion for the club

Diego Maradona has left his position as coach of Al Fujairah after they missed out on automatic promotion from the United Arab Emirates' second division.  

The 57-year-old former Argentina international and World Cup winner had been in charge since May 2017.  A 1-1 draw with Khorfakkan on Friday meant they could not finish higher than third in the table.

It was Maradona's second managerial spell in the UAE, after spending a year in charge of Al-Wasl. He also managed the Argentina national team from 2008 to 2010.

Nine school children stabbed to death, 12 injured, by "bullied pupil" in China

Nine students have been stabbed to death and 12 others were injured after a former student attacked them outside a school in northern China.

The former student allegedly stabbed them in a revenge plot after being bullied at the school in Shaanxi province. It took place outside the No3 Middle School in the rural area as classes were being dismissed for the evening.

Kanye West has revealed the identity of the doctor who performed the cosmetic surgery that killed his mother. He disclosed that the doctor will be the cover art for his next album and he is doing it because he wants to forgive and heal.

The rapper shared a screenshot of his private message informing someone that the plastic surgeon will be the cover art for his album and he needs a suggestion for the album title.

Sharin a photo of plastic surgeon Jan Adams, Kanye wrote: "This is my album cover. This is plastic surgeon Jan Adams. The person who performed my mum's final surgery. Do you have any title ideas?"

French First Lady Brigitte Macron has said Melania Trump has become a virtual prisoner in her own home.

Mrs Macron said this after her three-day visit to Washington. Heaping praise on Melania Trump, Mrs Macron said the US First Lady is hiding a strong personality and is "fun" and "intelligent". However, she also added that she is treated like a prisoner in the White House.

Mrs Macron said in an interview during the final day of the Macrons’ US trip:

Melania can’t do anything, she can’t even open a window at the White House because immediately the security services call and say 'close it'.

She can’t go outside. Every day, I go out in Paris.

It is the second time Mrs Macron and Mrs Trump have met. The first time was when the Trumps visited Paris in July.

Kelis, the ex-wife of Nas, has said that her ex-husband abused her verbally, mentally, and physically when they were married.

The 38-year-old singer, who was married to the rapper from 2005 to 2009, describes their relationship as "really toxic" in her first public interview about her failed marriage to the rap legend. She said she would have probably stayed longer in the marriage had she not been pregnant.

She divorced Nas in April 2009 and three months later, their child Knight was born.

We would fight. I never just sat there … Did he hit me? M-hmm [nods]. Did I hit him back? M-hmm [nods]. He would black out – he would drink way too much … a lot of stuff, he may not remember. We would have, literally, the worst night ever, and we would wake up the next day, and it’s like it never happened.

President Buhari explains his silence on Olusegun Obasanjo’s explosive letter

President Buhari has explained why he refused to reply former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s explosive letter to him chronicling his alleged failures and advising him not to seek re-election in the 2019 polls.
