A South African military officer, Major MV Mohlala, has been dismissed from service over racial comments he made on Facebook.
Mohlala had left a vile comment in a post shared by the son of an 80-year-old white man, Pastor Braam van Wyk, who was attacked at his home in Randburg on March 10th.
In response to the post, Mohlala commented that worse things should have been done to the man.

'Our 2019 re-election will be easy because we've kept our promises' – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari will emerge victorious in the 2019 general elections.

He spoke today while inspecting the dualisation of the Ibadan-Ilorin road in Osun state saying, 'we are so confident that our re-election would be easy. Whether it is in terms of infrastructure, whether it is in terms of social intervention, every day we are working for the people.”

According to Mohammed, the Buhari administration has kept its promises to the people of Nigeria. He also believes that the President has not lost his goodwill because of the massive projects he says it is embarking on.  In the area of infrastructure, the minister assured the public that there are enough funds to ensure that the road projects are completed at the appropriate time especially with the disbursement of the Sukuk Bond. He further stated that the Federal Government would not relent in its promises despite criticism from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Our response to critics is not to exchange banters,” he said.  “There is only one way you can get the electorates to vote for you by keeping your promises to them and by embarking on projects that touch their lives and this is what we are doing and that is why we are so confident.

Northern group denies asking President Buhari not to seek re-election

Northern group denies asking President Buhari not to seek re-election
Contrary to reports, northern groups have denied asking President Muhammadu Buhari against seeking a re-election in 2019. The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) on Wednesday also denied asking former Vice President Atiku Abubakar not to contest presidential election.

According to NAN, the group described the report as misrepresentation. Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, spokesman of CNG, said in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday that the CNG did not discuss individual aspiration at its two-day summit in Kaduna as reported in the media.  According to him, the communiqué only highlighted its support for structural reforms with condition that only youths between ages 18 and 60 should represent the North.
“The attention of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has been drawn to certain misrepresentations of parts of its communiqué of May 21, 2018 by a section of the media. While we do not want to believe that the misrepresentations, though very fundamental, were maliciously made, we nevertheless owe the public a duty to straighten the records.

At the end of our two-day summit at Arewa House, Kaduna, a five-page communiqué was read by our spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, in which we categorically stated that the North fully supports the restructuring of the country and shall be prepared to represent itself in any debate thereon. Our coalition said the North supported structural reforms, with certain conditions,’’ he said.
According to him, one of the terms is that those who will carry the banner to any future discussion with regards to Nigerian federal arrangement should be within the 18 to 60 years bracket.
“We said this out of a patriotic conviction that the older men who have been speaking and running the country since independence should cease to take the front seats at such national discourses. The coalition was, however, quite surprised by some reports by a section of the media, tending to suggest that we have asked certain aspirants to the 2019 presidency to shelve their ambition.
