''Obasanjo's government used police, DSS to topple Fayose, Ladoja, Peter Obi's administration'' Presidency says

The presidency says one of the distinctive characteristic of the Buhari-led government is that in its three years of staying in power, it has not used the police or DSS to topple the government of any state government like past administrations had done.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement titled ''The real price of change-the-change campaign (2)'', reminded Nigerians of how a certain president used his power to topple the government of some state governors that refused to do his bidding. Although he did not mention any name, facts presented in his statement shows that he was referring to ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo's administration.

According to the New York Post, a source claimed that one of Mariah's business managers 'quietly' sold the ring to an LA jeweller for $2.78million.

'JAMB remitted only N52m to the Federal Government in 40 years' - Registrar, Is’haq Oloyede

Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has lamented how corruption ate deep into the agency such that it was only able to remit to the treasury N52million in about 40 years.  

Oloyede however changed the narrative when he took over in 2016.  Oloyede said he generated N9 billion for the board and remitted N 7.8 billion to the Federal Government in 2017. The JAMB registrar said this while delivering a lecture at a colloquium to mark the 61st birthday of Gov. Rauf Aregbesola on Sunday in Osogbo.  

He said Nigerians should join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption to bring about a better society. He said there is urgent need for government at all levels to improve the quality of education in the country. The colloquium had as theme: “Functional Education as a Tool For National Development and Gateway To Freedom.’’  Oloyede said that there was the need for government to place less emphasis on certificates and encourage abilities among the students.

Corps member slumps and dies on duty at Lagos State Secretariat

A corps member  identified as Ibukun Arowolo, serving with the Lagos State Government has died after he slumped at the government secretariat on Thursday.

According to reports, the corps member was serving with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget before he died. He was said to have slumped and died five days to his completion of his youth service with the government.

A 21-year-old rape victim from Georgia was awarded $1 billion (£750 million) in a historic jury verdict believed to be the largest ever handed down in an American assault case.

According to court documents, Hope Cheston, was sexually assaulted by an armed security guard at an apartment complex near Atlanta while she was visiting a friend in October 2012. She was 14 at that time of the attack. The guard, Brandon Lamar Zachary, was 22.

1-year old baby girl dies after being stuck in father’s truck for hours

A 1-year old child Katera Barker was found dead in her father’s truck is East Nashville, Tennessee according to Police Reports.

According to investigations, the girl’s adoptive father had driven her and her older sister to day care and had dropped off the older one but forgot to drop off Katera. He reportedly returned home and used a ride-sharing app to get a lift to the airport. It wasn’t until his wife went to pick the kids from day care that she realized what had happened.  

Katera was pronounced dead on arrival at the Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
