'Corrupt INEC officials in Oyo State will be prosecuted' - Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mutiu Agboke

Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, has said officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who are found to be corrupt, risk being sacked and prosecuted.

Agboke who gave the warning today in Ibadan at the maiden Ramadan lecture organised by the commission, said that INEC would not hesitate in sacking and prosecuting any of its staff involved  in corrupt practices.  

He said the mandate of the commission was to make election processes transparent, impartial, credible, free and fair.  

Miss America is scrapping the swimsuit portion from its pageant

The swimsuit portion of the Miss America beauty pageant will be scrapped starting from the next edition of Miss America. Also, the pageant will be more inclusive to women of all sizes, the contest announced Tuesday.

Gretchen Carlson, the chairwoman of the Miss America board of directors, announced on "Good Morning America" that the event will no longer feature a swimsuit portion.

Carlson also said on the show that Miss America will now be a competition, not a pageant.

"We will no longer judge our candidates on their outward physical appearance. That's huge,"

The Anambra state command has arrested Thirty Five (35) suspected cult members belonging to different cult groups within the State particularly Awka, Obosi, Enugu-Ukwu and Okija, A statement released by the command gave the names of the arrested cultists as 

i. Chukwudi Machie 'm' aged 34yrs
ii. Chukwudi Igwebueze 'm' aged 32yrs
iii. Onyeka Igbanugo 'm' aged 28yrs
iv. Ifeanyi Anazoba 'm' aged 32yrs
v. Chukwuemeka Nwokoye 'm' Aged 32yrs.

The suspects confessed that they were members of Black Axxe/Vikings Fraternity and have direct link with the ongoing cult activities in Awka and the alleged murder of a 30-year-old man, Chukwudozie Patrick Nwosu, Sunday Nwaboko, Victor Omemma, Ifeanyi Ndubuisi, Nnamdi Anih and others at various areas within the state.

The command also arrested other arrested suspects who are not directly involved in the alleged murders but belong to various cult groups. They are

Nigerian parents loose all three children to sickle cell anaemia

A couple have become childless after all three of their kids died as a result of sickle cell anemia.

They lost their daughter first. Two years later, they lost a son. Their last son died three days ago, after years of living with sickle cell.

A Twitter user who knows the family shared the story and cautioned lovers to be aware of their genotype before talking about marriage.

She tweeted: 

I lost a friend in sec school bcuz she was an SS. 2yrs after, her brother died too. Just yesterday, the last son we thought would survive also had crisis and died. What sort of stupid love would make u risk the lives of ur children? Before you say Yes, ask for their Genotype.

Audu Ogbeh commissions Erosion/Flood Control and Rural Roads Projects

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh has on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria commissioned and handed over some erosion flood/control and rural road improvement projects in some Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

The completed projects which were executed by the Federal Government under the Ecological Fund Office include Kaltungo Gully Erosion Control Works Project in Kaltungo Local Government Area; East of Kumo to Jauro Musa Stream Gully Erosion Control Project; Kumo Gully Erosion Site, Anguwan Jauro Musa, Akiko Local Government Area and Kumo Gully Erosion Site, Anguwan Jauro Sabo, Akko Local Government Area and some rural road improvement projects in the areas.

The ecological challenges experienced in these communities were occasioned by poor drainage systems, bad roads, structural defects and other human activities leading to annual flood disasters and other related environmental problems.

Michael Okwudili Ifeanyi, a Naval officer, shared a photo of himself with his ex during good times, then accused her of leaving him even after all he did for her. He said he has forgiven her, then turned around and said his God will never forgive her.

Kate Spade was found hanged in her bedroom and it has now been revealed that she committed suicide out of depression. According to her sister, she had suffered manic depression for about four years but refused to get help because she didn't want it to damage her brand.

According to TMZ, the popular fashion designer was extremely depressed in her last days of life, also because her husband wanted a divorce. TMZ cites law enforcement as their source.

171 Nigerian deportees arrive from Libya

A batch of 171 Nigerians deported from Libya arrived Lagos on Tuesday. The returnees touched down at about 8.25pm. They comprised of 70 female adults, 90 male adults, 3 Children and 8 infants. 9 of the women were pregnant.

The deportees arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with tales of woes of all that they suffered while in the African country in search of greener pastures.

Ogun Customs seizes N64.2m Range Rover, arrests 2 (photos)

The Ogun Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, seized a brand new Range Rover (Velar), 2018/2019 model, with a Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N64.2million.

Addressing Journalists yesterday at Idiroko, the border between Nigeria and Republic of Benin, Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Agbara Ojobo Michael disclosed that the seizure tagged "the seizure of the month" is the second of such seizure made this year. The vehicle was seized through intelligence technique mapped out by Comptroller Michael.

Comptroller Michael told journalists:

??????It is a propitious time when we have set the ball rolling in the quest to effectively perform our core functions of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and facilitation of legitimate trade.

It is pertinent to inform you that in the area of anti-smuggling, the Command made seizures of 51 vehicles (19 Tokunbo vehicles and 32 means of conveyance), 5,103 bags of foreign rice (50kg each), 135 gallons of vegetable oil (25litres each), 33 bags of sugar (50kg each), seven bales of secondhand clothing, three bales, 36 sacks and 300 pairs of foot wears, 129 pieces of used tyres, 102 gallons of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) of 25 litres each, commonly known as petrol, and one sack of ladies handbags, with a Duty Paid Value of N370,892,666.00.

Police says 4 gang leaders accompanied Bukola Saraki to sympathise with Offa monarch two days after Offa robbery

Jobless son, 46, admits killing his own mother, stabbed her 17 times after she complained the tea he'd made her wasn’t milky enough

A jobless man has admitted killing his own mother over an argument of milk in a cup of tea.

Thomas Westwood, 46, knifed his 68-year-old mother Susan Westwood, 17 times at her home in Coventry on Friday, December 1, last year. She suffered fatal injuries in the attack which later took her life.

The unemployed killer, of Tile Hill, Coventry, was arrested after officers were called to the scene. He claimed his mother had been bullying him every day and said she was the one who first attacked him with the knife.

A good Samaritan has cautioned well-meaning Nigerians, asking them to beware of a couple of young boys claiming they need help only to end up stealing from you when you offer help.

He said they told him they needed money to buy pure water and start a business. Drug addict kills girlfriend in Yola for cheating on him

A man has been arrested by police in Yola, Adamawa state for the murder of his girlfriend who he stabbed to death because she was seeing another guy.

Muhammed Adamu has been dating 24-year-old Hauwa Muhammad since 2014 and, according to him, she was the perfect girlfriend. But after waiting years for him to marry her, and he didn't, another man showed interest in her and Hauwa indicated interest in moving forward with the man. This angered Adamu and he stabbed her in Yola.
