Update: Trial of Danish man who allegedly killed Wife, singer Alizee and daughter to begin in October

Peter Nielson, the Dutchman alleged to have murdered his wife and daughter was today docked before a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere, but his trial proper will begin October 8th 2018.  

Nielson is facing a two count charge of murder.  The Lagos State Prosecutor who is also the Attorney General and commissioner for Justice, Lagos State Adeniji Kazeem, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence on April 5, 2018.

The defendant was alleged to have killed his wife Zainab Nielson and his daughter Petra Nielson, at their resident in Banana Island in Eti -Osa local Government of Lagos State, at about 3:45 am, at Flat 17 at Bella Vista Tower, Banana Island Ikoyi.  

The offence alleged to have been committed by the accused Dutch is Punishable Under Section 223, Cap C17, Vol 3, Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.  However the 53 year old defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.  The Prosecutor then, asked for a trial date.

The defendant’s counsel Mr Olasupo Shasore SAN, said he was not opposing the charge but that the defence would like to carry out their own test.  “We are interested in taking the blood sample of the defendant , I thought it will be better to inform this court that his blood sample would be taken for DNA, analysis" he said.

Consequently Justice Bola Okikiol-Ighile, asked the defendant if he would like to give his consent so that his blood sample can be taken for DNA test. Nielson concurred.

Fernando Puron Johnston had served as a mayor of Piedras Negras, but he had his eye on Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies, the equivalent of their "Congress", and the election is to be held on July 1, 2018. Sadly, he didn't live to see the election day.

According to Radar Online, Camille Cosby, 74, has left the couple's Pennsylvania mansion, leaving her husband "pleading with her to return."

"He literally is home alone," an insider told the publication before stressing that the two now live separate lives. "She even took the staff with her!"

Egypt becomes the safest country in Africa! Even safer than US and UK, according to a new Global poll

Egypt has been ranked the safest country in Africa and higher than both the UK and US, according to the annual Gallup Global Law and Order poll where it asked if people felt safe walking at night and whether they had been victims of crime.

The survey placed Egypt 16th out of 135 countries, while the UK was 21st and the US 35th. Singapore was ranked the safest while Venezuela was seen as the least.

Egypt got 88 out of 100 in the survey, placing it on the same level as countries like Denmark, Slovenia and China. This was an improvement on 2016, when it got 82.

320 military personnel will retire from the Nigerian armed forces next week

Air Vice Marshal Austine Jekenu, Commandant, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) has confirmed that a total of 320 military personnel will retire from the armed forces next week.

He told newsmen at the centre in Oshodi, Lagos today that the retiring military men were drawn from the Army, the Air Force and the Navy. “A total of 320 servicemen comprising of 262 from the Nigerian Army, 44 from the Nigerian Navy and 14 from the Nigerian Air Force would be graduating from the NAFRC,’’ he said.  

Jekenu said that the retiring servicemen went through months of intensive training on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship at NAFRC. He said the training was to prepare the retirees for life after military service.  

Man had foot amputated then served it to friends for dinner (photos)

A man cooked his foot and served it to a group of friends at a dinner party after being forced to have it amputated.

The bizarre incident happened two years ago but came to light this week after the amputee told his story on Reddit. 

Around two years ago, he was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident and despite a battle, medics were forced to amputate his foot. He then asked to keep it, and after completing some paperwork, he took it home.

''Buhari’s governemnt planning to frame me'' Obasanjo cries out

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused President Buhari-led administration of planning to frame him for crimes he knows nothing about. 

In a statement released today June 8th through his media aide Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo said since he released his State-of-the-Nation Special letter on January 23rd, 2018, the Federal Government had embarked on desperate efforts to frustrate, intimidate and blackmail him into abandoning what he termed “divine mandate to protect the rights of the people to better life and living”.

He noted that  the plot has continued unabated and even taken a bizarre dimension.

Recall that last month, President Buhari at a function in the state house, said the former president had questions to answer concerning the $16 billion spent on power projects during his tenure as president.

Rapper Queen, Lil' Kim has filed for bankruptcy amid a $4 million debt and plans to sell her New Jersey mansion to pay back her debt.

According to The Blast, the rapper whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones, filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy last month, claiming debts of $4,084,841.60, as she owes $1,845,451 in back taxes.

The Lighters Up performer is now planning to sell her New Jersey mansion to pay back her debt.

Nigerian woman accuses Pastor Lazarus Muoka of the Lord's Chosen church of trying to kill her because she left his church (video)

A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to cry out for help and accuse Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General Overseer of the Lord's Chosen Church, of trying to kill her because she left the church after finding out his secret.

She said Muoka has scattered her marriage and has been sending hired assassins to kill her after his pleas to return to the church did not work. She also accused him of charging her to court 13 times.

Sharing a video on Facebook, she wrote: "Hello friends .... Fake pastor Lazarus Mouka the owner of the Lords chosen church wants to kill me... He's after my life ....please watch this video."

Donald Duke officially declares Intention to run for president In 2019

Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke has declared his interest to contest for the Office of President in the upcoming 2019 general elections.  

He made his intentions known while speaking at the annual Law dinner of the University of Nigeria, Anambra State on Friday, June 8 while speaking on the topic ‘Nigeria In Clear and Present Danger’.

He explained that although he wasn’t yet sure of the platform with which he will be contesting, he was convinced that it was time to make a move. He also stated that will and strategy are major components needed to ensure all-round national development.

The man shared photos from the command and revealed that they are being battered and treated like animals. He said one of the officers boasted that he has wasted so many lives and could waste theirs easily.

Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law arrested for kidnapping his lawyer

Simba Chikore, the son-in-law of former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe was on Thursday arrested by the police on allegations of kidnapping his lawyer following an argument involving a labour dispute.  

Chief police spokeswoman, Senior Assistant Commissioner, Charity Charamba, confirmed the developments to Bulawayo24 on Thursday.  “He was picked up today (Thursday) and a warned and caution statement was recorded following a report by his lawyer for kidnapping,” she said.

According to her, as at last night Chikore was still assisting police with investigations at Highlands Police Station who were still gathering details of the case.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said information they had gathered so far was that Chikore was having labour disputes with his lawyer.

President Buhari to depart for Morocco

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Sunday, June 10, embark on a two-day working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The visit, which is at the invitation of His Royal Majesty, King Mohammed VI, will see the two leaders discuss socio-economic matters affecting their countries, following prior engagements in December 2016, during the official visit of His Majesty to Nigeria.

In Rabat, discussions will focus on strengthening existing agreements on the fertilizer industry, education cooperation, the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline project and establishing a basic chemical platform to harness Nigeria’s vast natural gas resources and support Morocco’s diammonium phosphate industry.

Man found hanged after visiting wife's village to resolve quarrel (graphic photos)

A man's body was found hanged after visiting his wife's hometown to resolve a misunderstanding with her.

Mr Benson Aminadokiye, popularly known as "Benny", from Ogu Town in Ogu/Bolo LGA of Rivers State, had a misunderstanding with his wife that caused her to pack her things and move out of home with their kids. 

Some days ago, Benson visited his wife's hometown at Kira in Tai Local government area of the state following an invitation from her family to come and resolve the issue. It is not clear what resolution was reached following the meeting at his wife's family home.

Housemaid on the run after stabbing her madam and son to death in Kenya

A maid is on the run after stabbing her employer and her son to death in Kenya.

Ms Liz Ojwang (pictured) and her son Leone were stabbed on Wednesday evening after what is believed to be a child related dispute. Ms Ojwang was stabbed in Muhoroni, Kenya, where she lived and worked.

According to Ms Ojwang's father, John Agolla Ojwang, his daughter came home to find her son in a bad state. She confronted the house help and the confrontation became heated. The house help then reached for a knife and stabbed both Liz and her son then locked them in the bedroom. Afterward, she spent the night in the living room with Liz’s niece, Cynthia.

Man jailed 2 years for using fake currency notes to shop from a supermarket

A man has been sentenced to two years imprisonment after being found guilty of circulating fake currency notes.

Chimankpa Nwakuna, an alleged counterfeit currency dealer, was charged to court by the EFCC, after he was arrested by the DSS in Imo state in January 2016.

He was nabbed as he attempted to buy some items from a supermarket with some of the currencies. Following his arrest, a search was carried out on him and more fake currency notes were found in his possession.
