The Enugu State Police Command on Monday July 2nd rescued the kidnapped father of Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi.

Spokesperson for the State Police Command, who confirmed the development in a statement, Ebere Amaraizu, said Pa Michael Obi and his driver, Ishaya John, were kidnapped last Friday along Makurdi – Enugu Road.

Bukola Saraki’s Chief of Staff dumps APC

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki, on Monday dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).  

Ahmed who was appointed by Saraki in 2017, however said that his decision had nothing to do with Saraki, stressing that it was difficult to leave the APC. He said he took the decision after due consultation with members of his Akida faction of APC in Kaduna.  

The Akida faction also has Sen. Shehu Sani, as member. Sen. Sani has also threatened to leave the APC. Baba-Ahmed, while addressing journalists in Kaduna today said he has sent a letter of withdrawal from APC to the party chairman. He explained that he was not leaving APC to join another party but because the party had performed poorly.

Sokoto state governor gifts Super Eagles player, Abdullahi Shehu, 4-bedroom apartment

The Sokoto state government has donated a hajj seat and a four bedroom house complex to Super Eagles player, Abdullahl Shehu, who is an indigene of the state. 

The state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, announced the donation while receiving Shehu who participated in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia, at the state government House Sokoto.

Police says XXXTentacion's accused killer wasn't raped or sexually assaulted in jail

Over the weekend, Hip-Hop Overload published a report that XXXtentacion's accused murderer Dedrick Williams was raped and sexually assaulted in jail.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office has slammed the report saying the suspect was not raped or sexually assaulted in jail.

The Law enforcement officials confirmed to TMZ that the story asserting Dedrick Williams was raped in Broward County Jail is flat-out false.

Death toll in Lagos tanker explosion rises to 12

The death toll from the tanker explosion which occurred at the Otedola bridge in Lagos last week Thursday has risen to 12.

The State Commissioner for Health, Jide Idris disclosed this to newsmen today July 2nd.

Idris said 10 bodies were recovered from the scene of the incident as opposed to the nine initially reported. He said the 10th body recovered was that of an infant, while two of the seven survivors of the inferno later died in the hospital.

The commissioner added that other survivors are responding to treatment.

54 cars were burnt in the inferno.

He wrote, 'Me (at the back seat of a Cab) on my way to Ado Ekiti from Ibadan earlier today. I deliberately counted money at every police/security check point on the road to see what will happen. For the three and half hours journey nobody asked me “how far?”.

Flood kills eight people in Niger State

The Police Command in Niger says eight persons have died as a result of a downpour in Rafin-Gora village in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.  

The Police Commissioner, Alhaji Dibal Yakadi, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Monday that two bodies of the victims had been recovered.  

Yakadi said that the deceased were washed away by flood from the heavy rain which occurred on Monday evening. He added that the search and rescue operation was ongoing to recover the remaining missing bodies.

The Japanese national team has been hailed as 'an example for all teams' after showing a class of sportsmanship despite their World Cup defeat by Belgium last night at the Rostov Arena.

They were knocked out of the tournament when a late goal from Nacer Chadli in the 94th minutes sealed a 3-2 comeback victory for Belgium.

Suspect confesses to giving his mother N50,000 from proceeds of his first robbery operation

A member of a four-man robbery gang, Offor Joseph, arrested recently by men of the Lagos state police command, has told the police that he gave his mother N50,000 from his share of the N900,000 he made from his first operation as an armed robber.

Offor, who was arrested alongside Chinedu Ogu, a member of his gang after robbing a lebanese man, said they have informants that go to banks to monitor individuals who go to withdraw large sum. The informant then calls then to inform them of such customers.

“This is my third robbery operation. In the first operation, we made N900,000 and I got N200,000 as my share. I used the first money I made to take care of some pressing family issues and gave my mother N50,000; sister N15,000.

Nigeria: Two policemen ambushed and killed in Akwa Ibom State

Two policemen have been killed in an ambush in Akwa Ibom state.

Police spokesperson in the state, Odiko MacDon, said the policemen were attacked by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday along Iwukem Road, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of the state, while driving to their base in Azumini, Abia state.
