'We won't rest until we deliver on our commitments on quality education to Nigerians' - President Buhari

President Buhari has assured Nigerians that his administration will not rest until it delivers on its commitments on quality education, including investing more resources in the sector and providing a conducive learning environment in the academia.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Post Graduate Centre of Excellence built by the Central Bank of Nigeria at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the President said the Federal government have invested close to N1.3 trillion towards the development of the education sector in the past 4 years, excluding funds spent on overhead and personnel costs.

Commending the CBN for providing the Centre sited at the Samaru campus of the institution, the President said:

Full list of 77 Nigerians arrested by the FBI for cyber fraud (video)

 United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the arrest of 80 suspected internet fraudsters. 

An update served on the arrest, revealed that 77 of the arrested suspects are Nigerians. They were accused of conspiring with federal and state agents to perpetrate the crime. Asides being involved in schemes that resulted in the transfer of at least $6 million which was obtained fraudulently, the suspects were also allegedly involved in the attempted theft of at least an additional $40 million.

US attorney, Nick Hanna said the suspects handed a total of 252 count charges bordering on “conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, aggravated identity theft”, had nicknames such as “Thank You Jesus”, “Son of God”, American Man”, God is God”, “He is Risen”.

German police identify four of Ekweremadu’s attackers

Four members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) involved in the assault of Senator Ike Ekweremadu at an event organised by “Ndigbo Germany” in Nuremberg on Saturday August 17, have been identified by the Bavaria police. 

LIB reported earlier that the German police had a cold feet in investigating the assault incident and also announced that nobody has been arrested in connection with the attack and humiliation of former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu. However the 4 attackers were brought into custody, after the Nigerian embassy invoked section 102 (1), chapter 3, of the German criminal code.

Somizi and Mohale's white wedding date revealed

The wedding date of South African media personality, Somizi Mhlongo and his actor fiancé, Mohale Motaung has been revealed after a long wait. 

The love birds have been enmeshed in planning their wedding and it's been revealed they will be walking down the aisle in January 2020. Somizi announced their wedding date in an Instagram post in which he thanked his London-based friend for meeting up with him in Italy for lunch and catch-up.

Sanwo-Olu has not abolished Wealth Creation Ministry – Lagos State Government explains

The Lagos State Government has denounced a report in a section of the media alleging that the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has abolished the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry of  Wealth Creation and Employment stated that the Ministry was created via an Executive Order (No. EO/AA.OI.2015) of June 17, 2015, to create sustainable wealth for Lagos citizens as well as promote and sustain entrepreneurship, through effective use of strategies and resources, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, on Thursday, August 22nd said the embattled Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo refused to appear before its panel investigating the rape allegation against him.  

The PFN said because he refused to appear before the panel, the probe had been declared inconclusive.  

According to PFN National Publicity Secretary, Bishop Emma Isong, who spoke with newsmen in Lagos on Thursday, Busola and her husband, Timi Dakolo appeared before the panel while Fatoyinbo did not.
