US firm shuts down in Nigeria, accuses staff of extortion

Dynamics Intelligence, a company operating from Redmond, United States has shut its operations in Nigeria over what its chairman alleged is extortions by its employees and contractors.    

Jenna Bourgeois, chairman of the company, made the announcement via his LinkedIn account and asked any company trying to do business in Nigeria to outsource to Indians.  

The company which engages in technology solutions, partners with Microsoft and Amazon to create custom cloud based productivity software. The software built upon the Microsoft Azure, PowerApps, PowerBI, Flow, and Dynamics 365 technologies are focused on healthcare, retail and government sectors.

Iweanoje takes over from Rahul Sharma, a public defender hired by a United States judge to stand as counsel to Okeke. The accused had failed to appear with a lawyer during his initial court appearance on August 9. Iweanoje indicated that he was stepping in to defend the Abuja-based businessman later the same day.

US rapper Kodak Black pleads guilty to Federal Weapons Charges, faces up to eight years in prison

Kodak Black has pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges.

The controversial American rapper whose real name is Bill K. Kapri, 22,  entered the plea at a hearing in Miami federal court on Thursday, August 22. He originally had pleaded not guilty on the firearm charges.

Back in May, Kodak was charged with crimes including making false statements on federal forms to purchase three firearms. Prosecutors say a weapon purchased by Black was found at the scene of the Pompano Beach shooting.

'We won't rest until we deliver on our commitments on quality education to Nigerians' - President Buhari

President Buhari has assured Nigerians that his administration will not rest until it delivers on its commitments on quality education, including investing more resources in the sector and providing a conducive learning environment in the academia.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Post Graduate Centre of Excellence built by the Central Bank of Nigeria at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the President said the Federal government have invested close to N1.3 trillion towards the development of the education sector in the past 4 years, excluding funds spent on overhead and personnel costs.

Commending the CBN for providing the Centre sited at the Samaru campus of the institution, the President said:

Full list of 77 Nigerians arrested by the FBI for cyber fraud (video)

 United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the arrest of 80 suspected internet fraudsters. 

An update served on the arrest, revealed that 77 of the arrested suspects are Nigerians. They were accused of conspiring with federal and state agents to perpetrate the crime. Asides being involved in schemes that resulted in the transfer of at least $6 million which was obtained fraudulently, the suspects were also allegedly involved in the attempted theft of at least an additional $40 million.

US attorney, Nick Hanna said the suspects handed a total of 252 count charges bordering on “conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, aggravated identity theft”, had nicknames such as “Thank You Jesus”, “Son of God”, American Man”, God is God”, “He is Risen”.

German police identify four of Ekweremadu’s attackers

Four members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) involved in the assault of Senator Ike Ekweremadu at an event organised by “Ndigbo Germany” in Nuremberg on Saturday August 17, have been identified by the Bavaria police. 

LIB reported earlier that the German police had a cold feet in investigating the assault incident and also announced that nobody has been arrested in connection with the attack and humiliation of former deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu. However the 4 attackers were brought into custody, after the Nigerian embassy invoked section 102 (1), chapter 3, of the German criminal code.
