Miley Cyrus has released a new track days after announcing her split from Liam Hemsworth, and in the song, she appeared to address their broken marriage.
The 26-year-old singer dropped the song 'Slide Away' on Friday, August 16, and some of the lyrics were about feeling ‘lost’ and ‘letting go’.
Miley who met Liam when she was 16 and he was 19 on the set of Nicholas Sparks film 'The 'Last Song in 2009.
In the new song, Miley sings: ‘Move on, we’re not 17. ‘I’m not who I used to be.You said that everything changed / You’re right I’m grown now.’
Elsewhere in the song, she sings: ‘Once upon it was paradise, once upon a time I was paralysed / I think I’m gonna miss these harbour lights / But it’s time to let it go.
‘Once upon a time it was made for us, woke up one day and it turned to dust / Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost / So it’s time to let it go.’
The Wrecking Ball singer, who’s been pictured kissing Brody Jenner's ex-Kaitlynn Carter amid the split, goes on: ‘I want my house in the hills / don’t want the whisky and pills / I don’t give up easily but I don’t think I’m down.’
Miley’s rep who announced their split, said: ‘Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. ‘Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.’
