Paris Club Refund: Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of N1.4bn

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday,  April 27, 2018, ordered the final forfeiture of a sum of N1,222, 384,857.84 ( One Billion, Two Hundred and Twenty Two Million, Three Hundred and Eighty Four Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Seven Naira and Eighty Four Kobo) only, recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from the account of Melrose General Services Company Limited.

Also to be forfeited to government is another sum of N220,000,000.00 (Two Hundred and Twenty Million Naira) only, also recovered by the EFCC from two other companies:  Wasp Networks Limited and Thebe Wellness Services, to the Federal Government.

Woman gets shot on livestream during a fight (Video)

A South Florida woman was shot at by another woman during a fight that broke out outside of a convenience store on Monday.

It's unclear what led to the clash, but in a video below one of the women was seen ranting while holding a gun, before the other woman launched an attack on her.

During the fight which was caught on livestream, the armed woman fired a single shot at her attacker, who then ran off with her gunshot wound.

According to MTO report, the injured lady went to the hospital and was treated for a single gunshot wound to the thigh. The injury is not expected to be life-threatening.

Unknown gunmen burn down INEC office In Rivers State

As the June 16 local government election in Rivers State approaches, gunmen on Friday burnt down the office of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RISEC) in Bori, the headquarters of Khana local government area.  

The gunmen left on their trail expended bullets and destruction of many vital and sensitive documents slated for the conduct of the local government election. Bori, which is also the traditional headquarters of the Ogoni ethnic nationality has a record of electoral violence. In 2015, the liasion office of Senator Magnus Abe and the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were set ablaze by arsonists.

President Buhari will leave Abuja on 28th April 2018, on an official working visit to the United States of America, on the invitation of President Donald Trump.

He will have bilateral meeting with President Trump and a working lunch on Monday 30th April 2018. The meeting is to discuss ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries and to advance shared priorities, such as: promoting economic growth, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Thursday, cut short his leave abroad and returned to Nigeria following the killing of two priests and worshipers by Fulani herdsmen.

Pharmacists Council of Nigeria seal 360 fake medicine stores in Sokoto State

The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), appear to have saved thousands of lives in Sokoto State after it sealed off 352 patent medicine stores and eight unregistered pharmacies for various offences.  

Anthonia Aruya, the PCN Director, Inspection and Monitoring, who addressed a news conference on Friday, said their offences included operating without registration and failure to renew premises licence. Aruwa listed other offences as dispensing ethical products without supervision of a pharmacist, poor sanitary conditions among others.

Obafemi Martins undergoes successful surgery in UK

Nigerian footballer and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker, Obafemi Martins has undergone a successful surgery on his ruptured quadriceps tendon in the United Kingdom.

The former Newcastle United star suffered the injury during Shanghai Shenhua’s Asian Champions League game against Kashima Antlers which ended 2-2 in midweek.

Shanghai Shenhua’s Instagram account posted a picture of the striker in bed with his right leg strapped. “Martins had a successful surgery in the UK,” the account wrote.
