A maid is on the run after stabbing her employer and her son to death in Kenya.
Ms Liz Ojwang (pictured) and her son Leone were stabbed on Wednesday evening after what is believed to be a child related dispute. Ms Ojwang was stabbed in Muhoroni, Kenya, where she lived and worked.

According to Ms Ojwang's father, John Agolla Ojwang, his daughter came home to find her son in a bad state. She confronted the house help and the confrontation became heated. The house help then reached for a knife and stabbed both Liz and her son then locked them in the bedroom. Afterward, she spent the night in the living room with Liz’s niece, Cynthia.

Man jailed 2 years for using fake currency notes to shop from a supermarket
A man has been sentenced to two years imprisonment after being found guilty of circulating fake currency notes.
Chimankpa Nwakuna, an alleged counterfeit currency dealer, was charged to court by the EFCC, after he was arrested by the DSS in Imo state in January 2016.
He was nabbed as he attempted to buy some items from a supermarket with some of the currencies. Following his arrest, a search was carried out on him and more fake currency notes were found in his possession.

The Ogun State government has declared Tuesday, June 12, 2018, as a public holiday to enable residents to celebrate the new Democracy Day.  

The Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa disclosed this in a statement today saying the day would also be used to celebrate the recent conferment of a posthumous national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic on Chief Moshood Abiola by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lagos State Government has declared Tuesday, June 12, 2018, as a public holiday in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the annulled 1993 Presidential elections adjudged to be have won by the late Moshood Abiola.  

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tunji Bello on Saturday, said the significance of June 12, 1993 elections, seen as the freest and fairest in the history of Nigeria, would always be a reference point by the Lagos State Government.  Ambode also commended President Buhari’s recent declaration of June as the new Democracy Day.

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has banned players from eating goat meat and pepper soup as they prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
This comes after consecutive losses to England and the Czech Republic in the World Cup friendly matches.

Rohr is now restricting the players who are camped in Austria from some certain meals as he bids to keep them in good condition for the tournament.
In an interview with Omasports TV, the German tactician stated that the Super Eagles players will not be permitted to eat goat meat, pepper soup, and other spicy foods.
He said, “The reason is because nutritionist will tell you that too much spicy foods is not good for athletes.

Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna-central, has warned that the recent honor done to late MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 election, must not be milked for political gains as the 2019 election draws near.

Sani in a statement released yesterday, said the timing of the honor already suggests it has a political undertone but that the Federal government must however be weary of how it goes about implementing the honor otherwise it would be a ''splash oil on the pearl''.
